OTTAWA February 28, 2008EXPANDING ONTARIO'S GLOBAL REACHOntario wins when the province's companies succeed in the global economy. This is the message Minister of Small Business and Entrepreneurship Harinder Takhar brought to members of the province's business community today.
Speaking at Wisdom Exchange in Ottawa, Takhar highlighted the importance of Ontario's companies remaining competitive on the world stage.
"The McGuinty government is helping Ontario's small and medium sized enterprises grow to the next level of success," said Takhar. "That means helping companies connect to the global economy and solidifying Ontario's reputation as an international leader."
How Ontario is helping businesses compete in global markets:
- Government led trade missions to encourage cooperation between companies in Ontario and other parts of the world including China, India, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates
- Business Advisory Services provided by the government to help companies expand into global markets
- Ontario International Marketing Centres in some of the world's leading markets including Tokyo, Beijing and Mexico City
Now in its 14th season, Wisdom Exchange brings together the leaders of Ontario's top growth firms to discuss the challenges of managing high-performance companies. 'Strategies for growth and innovation' was the theme of this year's event. Speakers include: Linda Hasenfratz, CEO of Linamar Corporation and leading voice in the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America and Larry Keeley, President of Doblin Inc., and Professor of Innovation and Strategy at the Institute of Design in Chicago.
